The day Linda disappeared, her mother became worried when the girl did not arrive home. She started phoning, first to friends and neighbors, then to the police later in the evening. Borgeson helped with the research, but she was less worried. She assumed that her second sister was disobeying and would be in danger when she finally arrived home.
