After the bomb launched last week by ArenaNet on the dismissal of a large number of employees, it seems that the layoffs are now underway after an emotionally charged weekend. According to sources, employees met with leaders to discuss layoffs. During these meetings, sources said that Mike O'Brien, of ArenaNet, was panicked. "He has been wandering all the time just saying that we are going to go through this" several times.

Welp, I spent the weekend thinking about it and decided to leave ArenaNet. Decision really difficult. I adore these people. I will miss them so much. pic.twitter.com/oa17GYUhGf

"We can confirm that a number of ArenaNet staff members have been affected today as part of NCSOFT's ongoing restructuring of its development and publication activities in the west," said a representative. from the company to GameDaily. "However, we do not comment on individuals in particular nor the details of staff reductions."
The emotional impact has been so strong that ArenaNet has closed its offices today and will remain so tomorrow to allow the remaining staff time to process the changes. Some projects have been canceled as a result of the restructuring, but Guild Wars 2 will not be affected, but fewer developers will work on it.
