A robbery at a sportswear store caused surprise by the unusual mistake made by criminals, because although they fled with loot worth several thousand dollars, they will not be able to derive any economic income from it.
The incident happened last weekend at a shoe store in the San José Insurgentes neighborhood, in the mayor’s office of Benito Juárez in southern Mexico City, the CDMX attorney general’s office reported.
According to the reconstruction, a mother and son came to the store with the supposed purpose of asking for a pair of sneakers, but the manager of the place explained to them that to enter beforehand, it was necessary to make an appointment via their website.
At this moment, two other men intercepted him and managed to enter the establishment, one of them armed with a pistol. The thieves tied the trader and his partner with plastic seals, then took them to another room, where they left them lying face down and took out their cell phones.
It was then that the criminals started bagging the merchandise but apparently they never noticed that the majority of the shoes were only those of the left foot. In total, 200 copies of the brands Adidas and Nike were taken.
According to the merchant, they made him lose 2 million Mexican pesos (the equivalent of 85,000 euros or 100,000 dollars), but the loot will be of little or no use to thieves. The man explained that as he sells online, he only exhibited those on the left foot and the others were stored in his warehouse in their respective boxes.
When there was no longer any danger, the merchant he untied his hands and called the police. Later, he went to the police station to file the corresponding complaint. Faced with this, the prosecution opened an investigation file to find those responsible.
