12-year-old boy who took his dogs for a walk was raped and murdered | the Chronicle

Santiago was 12 years old, he left his house to walk his dogs and was intercepted by two men who threatened him with a knife and took him away. The next day, the body of the minor was found in the house of the murderers. The event occurred on April 29 in the municipality of Longaví, located 317 kilometers south of Santiago de Chile.

Santiago’s parents filed a complaint as the dogs returned home without the boy. A few minutes later, a police operation was carried out throughout the area and the criminals were found: Gerald Repetto Yes Ruben Soto, two men with criminal records.

A multidisciplinary team of the investigative police addressed the first investigations, where the head of the PDI of Maule, the prefect inspector Lautaro Arias, confirmed that the minor had “injuries attributable to third parties”. He was reportedly sexually assaulted for most of the time he was held hostage.

After the body of the minor was discovered, the police arrested the two subjects. According to them, “there was sufficient evidence and good fieldwork” to be able to proceed with the identification. In this way, they asked the Linares Guarantee Tribunal order and arrested criminals in the vicinity of the town of Talca.

Repetto had already been linked to another crime that occurred in 2009. And Rubén Soto was sentenced in 2020 to a sentence of one year in a semi-closed regime and two years of assisted freedom for the rape of a minor.
