20 countries rejected the presence of Maduro representatives and reaffirmed their support for Guaidó at the South-South conference of the UN

At the end of the Second United Nations High-level Conference on South-South Cooperation, held in Buenos Aires from 20 to 22 March 2019, the countries present issued a joint declaration rejecting the participation in the meeting of the representatives of the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro and supporting, once again, the legitimate government of the President of Venezuela (E), Juan Guaidó.

The Ambbadador of Peru, Peter Camino Cannock, took the floor to make a final statement on behalf of the delegations of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Australia, Georgia, Israel, United States, United Kingdom, Republic of Korea, Dominican Republic, Czech Republic, Japan and the European Union.

The diplomat explained the need to "stress that the approval of the report of the Credentials Committee should not be interpreted as tacit recognition of our countries vis-à-vis the regime of Nicolás Maduro or his representatives appointed at this conference. our countries do not recognize Nicolás Maduro's illegitimate regime in Venezuela, and to date more than 50 countries around the world have recognized Juan Guaidó as president in charge of Venezuela. "

For its part, The European Union's ambbadador to Argentina, Aude Maio-Coliche, intervened to reaffirm that "the presidential elections last May in Venezuela were neither free nor credible and lacked democratic legitimacy. The European Union and its member states reiterate their full support for the National Assembly, the democratic and legitimate body of Venezuela, whose powers must be restored and respected, including the prerogatives and security of its members. We are convinced that the solution to this multidimensional crisis that affects Venezuela can only be political, democratic and peaceful. We therefore once again make a strong call for the restoration of democracy through free, credible and transparent elections. "

Venezuela's diplomatic representative in Argentina, Elisa Trotta, thanked the important gesture of the allied countries of Venezuela in his tireless search for democracy.
