26 electrocuted workers died in a sweatshop

The event took place in Morocco. About 40 people worked in this workshop and 26 of them died from the floods.

In a clandestine textile workshop in the city of Tangier (Morocco), 26 workers were electrocuted to death after being inundated by torrential rains that hit the region.

This factory was located in the basement of a residential house and about 40 people worked there, of whom a dozen were rescued and 26 others died.

The survivors were rushed to the regional hospital in Tangier and the authorities assured that more workers could be trapped in the building.

Local media said the premises did not meet the safety requirements for garment factories and that an investigation had already been opened to clarify the facts.

The rains created a waterway which entered the underground textile factory and caused them to die of electrocution due to the irregular connections.
