3 dead and 7 wounded is the result of filming in New Orleans

New Orleans .- Two gunmen approached the crowd gathered Saturday night outside a shopping mall in New Orleans and opened fire, killing three people and wounding seven others, said the chief of police.

The shooting occurred on a busy street about 3 miles (4.83 km) from the French quarter, police said .

Chief of Police Michael Harrison, speaking with reporters Saturday night in TV commentaries, said the two suspects who thought that they were wearing hoodies had a rifle and a gun. He said that they seemed to have shot indiscriminately into the crowd, hitting ten people. Before fleeing, they took the time to stand on a person.

"We believe that they actually resisted one of the individuals and fired several times before fleeing," he said.

The police who responded to the shooting found three victims, two men and a woman, who were declared dead on the scene. Seven other victims, five men and two women, were taken to two separate hospitals. Four of them were driven in private vehicles, and three were transported by ambulance.

Harrison said that one had undergone surgery and that he was in critical condition; the other six were in various conditions, but none was considered life threatening.

Harrison spoke with his family and friends at the scene of the "volatile and tense situation". He called on people to offer themselves and to help the police find the killers and ask people not to act on them.

"It was an extremely tragic incident." Many people were here tonight. Many people, we know, have seen what happened, heard what happened. And we need more than anything else to come forward to help the NOPD solve this case, "said Harrison

He said the police did not know if she was linked to gangs.

Lawrence Russo was buying a scratch ticket at the nearby gas station when he heard what he thought was a firework display before he realized that they were being shot . He told NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune that he had heard a total of 13 to 16 shots.
