3 million doses of Chinese Sinopharm vaccine to arrive in country next week

The government confirmed this morning that they will arrive in the country next week 3 million additional doses of Sinopharm vaccine made in China. This will be the second shipment to arrive from Beijing after the first 1 million shipment that has already started to be applied to teaching staff.

This development has so far only been approved for application in the population between the ages of 18 and 59, so it is not used in the elderly.

President Alberto Fernández anticipated in a television interview last Monday that a new deal with Sinopharm was imminent. He also reported in this report that it had been done “with the Russian Federation to set a delivery schedule that allows us to have vaccines every week”.

And he added that “we bought three million more vaccines from Sinopharm. It is assumed that in March, they should enter, in which there are 580,000 doses of Astrazeneca ”.

The president also expressed that before winter “my wish was to reach the 13 million people at risk vaccinated and I hope that this can be accomplished as quickly as possible”.

Regarding non-compliance with deliveries, the president said at the time that “I announced what the contract says, what happens is someone has broken the contract. I can understand that with the non-compliance, many thought they could move into production and did not succeed. And Argentina is among the countries that continue to receive vaccines. For me, it’s an obsession that everyone gets vaccinated. I will continue to work for this. If the Russian Federation can comply with the last thing on which we have agreed that a significant number of vaccines will arrive every week to continue to increase in vaccination, and Astrazeneca is coming, we will be very calm ”.
