On the imposing facade of one of the sides of the Clinic HospitalUriburu Street a few meters from Cordoba Avenue, the three huge paintings mounted 25 years after the terrorist attack at the headquarters of the AMIA.
At the initiative of the authorities of Jewish mutual aid, and with the help of muralism and street art, the works call in memory of the victims of the attack of July 18, 1994 and recognize the human and professional help provided by the doctors, nurses, badistants and volunteers of the clinics before the horror of this morning.
The fact is that most people injured by the blast have been transferred to this university hospital because of their proximity to the AMIA.
Elio Kapszuk, Art and Production Director of AMIA, has called three of the most recognized artists of our country in the field of urban art or street art: "The Marian" (Mariano Antedomenico), Martin Ron and Mariela Achras.
"Our goal was to make the Clinic Hospital visible as a symbolic place of memory.", said Kapszuk.
- The first book, "El Marian", refers to July 18, 1994, after 9:53, the exact time of the bomb blast. This reflects how, in the midst of destruction and horror, human chains have tried to save lives from the rubble.
- Martin Ron realized the second mural, dedicated to health workers from the hospital clinics, who on the day of the attack, put all their humanity and professionalism to work to save lives and heal the wounded.
- In the third of the paintings, the artist Mariela Ajras worked on the idea of how time has transformed the expected justice into impunity.
"Memory needs commemorations, but also unforgettable creations, without which time would almost instantly erase traces of tragedy," said the curator.
These murals also complete the "Corredor de la Memoria", a project that began in 1999 when 85 trees were planted on Pasteur Street and commemorative plaques bearing the names of the victims of the attack were placed .
Rebuilt 20 years ago, the AMIA building is located in the middle of this permanent memory on the public highway.
