6.1-degree earthquake in northern Peru

Sullana is a Peruvian city, capital of the district and of the homonymous province of the department of Piura, about 1,030 kilometers north of the national capital, Lima.

It is located on the north coast of the Peruvian Pacific Ocean, has 233,615 inhabitants and is the twelfth largest metropolis in the country.

The city is located on the banks of the Chira River and surrounded by the Amotape hill.

So far, the authorities of the National Institute of Civil Protection (Indeci) have not reported any personal injury or material damage caused by the earthquake.
