74 million people affected by a cyclone bomb

The mighty winter storm that affected 25 states and more than 74 million people in the United States caused flooding and high winds and extended from the northern Texas Rockies.

Approximately 1,100 motorists found themselves stranded in Colorado following a severe winter storm – a "cyclone bomb" – released hurricane force winds and snowstorm conditions in parts of the central states -United.

The cyclone bomb was expected to continue on Thursday, causing heavy rain and snow in the Midwestern plains. National Guard patrols had to use specialized vehicles to rescue stranded drivers in Colorado.

Winds of 145 kilometers have been recorded as far south as Dallas, writes The Washington Post, where an Amazon depot located near the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport has seen its roof fly. It was recording 150 kilometers at the time at Denver International Airport, which was closed for the vast majority of air traffic.

Despite all the tragedy of this storm, there was hardly a fatal accident, as it was known that only one of the Colorado State Patrol Boxes had been killed.

Denver remained under a blizzard warning until midnight with no less than a foot of snow in the forecast. The state's transportation department has closed sections of Interstate 25 and 70 until Thursday morning at least due to blizzard conditions. Other roads have also been closed, reported KUSA, an affiliate of NBC, Denver.

More than 1,300 flights were canceled at the Denver International Airport, where a gust of wind was reported 145 kilometers away on Wednesday morning. All runways at this airport were closed early in the afternoon and remained closed until Wednesday evening.

Thousands of people were left without electricity because of several interruptions in the area. About 86,000 customers in Colorado did not have electricity on Thursday morning, according to one of the energy companies. Another 47,000 had no power in New Mexico and North Texas.
