Kirill is a 9-year-old boy who made world news after managing to survive for two days in a forest in Sverdlovsk, Russia. Rescuers who found him were surprised to learn how he got rid of bears and mosquitoes.

The little he had gone camping with his father, a priest from the Chelyabinsk region, and a contingent of 18 people. As the father explained, he broke down and allowed his son to go for a walk on his own, but he became disoriented and couldn’t come back.

Seeing that he was not coming back, the campers started looking for him, but as they had no results, they asked for the support of the police. They estimate that around 160 people were looking for him among volunteers, police officers, dog handlers and professional rescuers, even with helicopter air support.

They found him alive

Sunday afternoon he was finally found by volunteers from the “Scorpion” squad about 5 kilometers from the camp from which he had started. When they found Kirill, he was very worried about his father and why his mother was going to scold him for his torn tennis shoes. They told the local press.

Another thing that amazed them was the account of how he had survived, since He assured that he avoided drinking the water from the streams so that mosquitoes would not bite him when he smelled of sweat. On the other hand, he said he encountered bears and decided to lie down under a tree and pretend he was dead.

Additionally, he said he was screaming because he didn’t want his father to leave until he returned. One of the volunteers, Constantine Valiakhmetov, assured that this forest is particularly difficult because it has up to 30 cm of moss and below there are stones, tree roots and streams. This all adds up to the fact that it is teeming with predators and due to the terrain conditions, they could not move quickly.
