After collapse of a mine coal and ore in Muzquiz, Coahuila, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador left a message, noting that he has ordered some secretariats to contribute to the rescue efforts, hoping this will be favorable.

“We are attentive and in coordination with municipal and state authorities. We wish that the rescue is family-friendly and for everyone, ”he said.

López Obrador pointed out that on that day he had received information that in Múzquiz, seven workers were trapped in a mine belonging to Macaran company, after the spill of a water dam, which is why the aforementioned authorities immediately started to carry out works on the site.

“We are attentive and in coordination with municipal and state authorities,” said the president.

In addition to the pumping work to dry up the water accumulated in the mine, all three levels of government care for the families of the victims, who give them the information and support they need.

The authorities indicate that the corresponding procedure clarify the case, after addressing the priority which is the rescue of trapped workers.

Previously, the under-secretary for civil protection of the entity He confirmed the facts and indicated that an immediate request was made for the agency’s relief personnel to be mobilized in the affected area.

The mine is located in the community of The Rancherías, in the municipality of Múzquiz, north of the state. Shortly after the accident was announced, relatives of the victims began to arrive at the mine, hoping to meet the authorities of the company in charge to obtain more information.

Leopoldo Méndez Sánchez, 20 years old (from ejido La Mota).

Francisco Briseño, better known as “Chicano”.

For his part, the governor of the entity, Miguel ngel Riquelme, noted that the local authorities, as well as the National Guard and the army were working in the area and that the collapse of the mine was due to the accumulation of rainwater.

“At this moment, there is a presence of state security authorities, including the National Guard and the army, supporting the efforts to rescue the seven minors who have been trapped,” he said.

On the other hand, he pointed out that it is possible that in the early morning they can extract the water of the place and get to where the seven workers should be able to save them.

“It is estimated that in the early morning we can get to where they are, it is 100 meters, but we already have pumps to be able to extract the water and to be able to enter easily,” he said.

He recalled that in October 2020, work at the mine had been restricted, however, after complying with the necessary inspection measures, the measures were lifted and they continued to work.
