At least 100 people died in the early hours of yesterday in Burkina Faso, in the attack the bloodiest weapon in the African country since the start of a wave of jihadist violence in 2015.

According to a local source, the attack first targeted an army civilian support post and then the homes of residents, who were executed.

The army mobilized troops and sent additional forces into the area of ​​the attack. “Men have been deployed to carry out tracing operations and to guarantee the safety of the population,” said a security service official, adding that “they will carry out the extraction and burial of the victims”.

The president, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, decreed three days of national mourning for the tragedy which occurred in Solhan, a small town located about fifteen kilometers from Sebba, capital of the province of Yagha (near the Malian border), which in the last time has been the object of numerous attacks in recent years.
