Message from Fabiola Yañez with actors and athletes on the occasion of the Day for the Eradication of Child Labor

In the International Day for the Elimination of Child Laborl, Fabiola Yañez recorded a video with important personalities from entertainment, culture and sport to raise awareness of the importance of not violating children’s rights.

“Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Child Labor, we once again make visible the grave situation of 160 million children around the world who are forced to work. This is our message: No to child labor ”, He began by saying the First Lady in a three minute streak.

Then, a host of celebrities left a warm message to respect during their childhood and not to be forced to perform adult tasks.

UNICEF estimates that some 160 million children aged 5-14 are victims of child labor and that millions of children around the world are engaged in some type of hazardous or exploited work. This represents an increase of 8.4 million children over the past four years.

At the start of 2020, 63 million girls and 97 million boys were involved in child labor around the world, or nearly one in ten children worldwide.

In Argentina, child labor is considered any economic activity and / or survival strategy, paid or unpaid, carried out by girls and boys, below the minimum age for admission to employment or work, who is 16 years old.

The international organization guarantees that child labor as a violation of rights, reduces opportunities and affects the right to health, education, recreation, rest and cultural activities. In short, it compromises the full and integral development of childhood.

The First Lady has the problem of childhood as a priority on her agenda and particularly on this issue she considers that “all boys and girls have the right to a happy childhood, in which they can feel protected and supported ”.
