Pope Francis has been successfully operated on for diverticula in the colon

Pope Francis, 84, was operated on Sunday for “diverticular stenosis” of the colon in a care center in Rome, as part of a scheduled intervention, the Vatican reported. As reported from the holy see, the high pontiff “reacted well to the intervention”.
