SITP lost control while descending a bridge and caused a terrible accident in Bogotá

This July 11, there was a moment of terror on Avenida Primero de Mayo with Avenida 68 southwest of Bogotá, as a bus from SITP lost control due to lack of brakes when exiting the bridge and ended up hitting two taxis and two motorcycles.

According to Blu Radio, 17 people were injured after the accident, but luckily none died.

According to witnesses to the incident, “The SITP lost control, ran out of brakes and collided with this SITP that was here. The comings and goings were taken. Fortunately, the people who were at the scene left running ”.

Authorities quickly provided support after the accident, according to another witness contacted by the station.

“I was coming for May 1, heading west-east. Loses control, collides with comings and goings, collides with SITP. A terrible, very serious accident. Luckily we didn’t crash, but it almost crashed us, we were very close. Fortunately, nothing happened to us “Told one of the people present.

On the other hand, with regard to the infrastructure of the transport system, out of a total of 2,347 main buses that the system owns, 1,093 had some type of assignment, one of which was cremated.

On the other hand, of the 6,200 buses available to the SITP zonal component (blue buses), 659 were damaged and six of them were set on fire.

The estimated amount of damage with cut-off on July 1 (infrastructure, TransMilenio technical equipment, bus) amounts to approximately 21,969 million pesos.

Regarding the provision of the service, on July 9, TransMilenio claimed that the operation had started without any news related to the protests.
