The spanish surfer Óscar Serra died early in the morning, local time, last Saturday in Mexico after hit the head against the bottom, while trying to ride a wave on Zicatela Beach, Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca.

According to experts, Zicatela produces some of the best beach waves in the world and their height in the months of June and July is a contention for many of the best surfers in the world to ride them.

A similar accident occurred on July 6, when Oaxaca state authorities reported an accident on the coast. Four people who were in Playa Aragón, San Agustinillo, Tonameca, were swept away by the sea.

The State Coordination for Civil Protection of Oaxaca (CEPCO) has activated the search and rescue protocol to come to the aid of the victims. However, one woman was found dead, two others had to be hospitalized due to the seriousness of their injuries and another is missing.

Fishermen who were there helped two of the injured, but it was impossible to support the other two. The injured were transferred to the regional hospital of San Pedro de Pochutla and were identified as Juan David García Contreras, 20, and Gina Cruz Luis from 19.

The missing at sea has also been identified as a 20-year-old named Daniel Pérez Cabrera, who is said to be from the state of Oaxaca.
