The extent of Pegasus use has been reported by The Washington Post, Guardian, Le Monde and other media outlets who collaborated in a data breach investigation.

Avast Mobile Threat Analyst, Jakub Vavra, explained that Pegasus is a Remote Access Tool (RAT) with “spyware” capabilities, i.e. a tool with which you can remotely monitor a person’s cell phone and access things like camera or microphone or perform actions like screenshots or keystroke recording.

The program is installed when the user click on a link on your phone. However, according to research, there are times when it can be installed without the corresponding link.

The analyst added that Pegasus is a very selective tool, as it is only used in a few few individuals for surveillance purposes.

“The minimal spread of spyware does not make it any less dangerous, because each individual who is under surveillance the extent of the privacy breach is certainly very highconcludes Vavra.
