Beheaded, executed at home and at work: unstoppable violence in Zacatecas

The wave of violence in Zacatecas was unstoppable by the drug cartel narcowar and on this day of July 20 four other people were executed in various actions.

Headless body, subjected to their home and work area, the contract killers committed these murders in the capital, Guadalupe and Fresnillo, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The entity experienced a territorial dispute between the Jalisco new generation cartel (CJNG) and the Sinaloa Cartel, whose domain intervened by the organization which manages Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the Mencho, since the middle of last year.

Although in the state there are also remains of the Northeast Cartel, derived from the Zetas, during clashes on the border with San Luis Potosí.

According to local reports, the most recent executions took place around 1:10 p.m. in the Zacatecas mining colony. Armed individuals arrived at a mechanical workshop on Mina de los Ángeles Street, broke in and opened fire on two men, who were shot dead.

The preventive police of the capital went there to protect the scene, then agents from the National Guard and the prosecutor’s office from Zacatecan arrived to collect evidence. The bodies were taken to forensic medicine.

Previously, around 4:30 a.m., in the town of Guadalupe he was located the headless body of a subject along the road with heavy traffic in the district of Las Arboledas.

The body was reportedly wrapped in a White sheet next to a narcomensaje organized crime, the content of which has not been disclosed by the authorities. The person’s clothes were next to his body.

In the afternoon it was confirmed that the head of this body it corresponded to the one found a few kilometers away, in the Machine 30-30. This member was found around 2:30 am in a black bag in the street J. Jesús González Ortega.

The two human parts were sent to the Institute of Forensic Sciences in Zacatecano for identification.

Between 5:00 a.m., security agents went to the municipality of Fresnillo, Real de Minas neighborhood, Calle San Miguel, as hitmen broke into the local house and shot dead a 30-year-old man.

The assailants entered, forcibly took their victim to the street and overpowered her. Already there, they shot him several times to deprive him of his life on the public highway.

After committing the murder, the contract killers fled to an unknown destination. Relatives of the man called for emergency services, but paramedics only arrived to confirm that the body was no longer showing vital signs.

Army and state investigative police officers attended the scene. The body was taken to the forensic medicine department.

According to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, on the weekend of July 16-18, Zacatecas accumulated 19 murders: six on Friday, 11 on Saturday and two on Sunday. It was the third most violent entity after Guanajuato with 29 and the State of Mexico with 22 victims of intentional homicide.

Fresnillo, Guadalupe and the capital Zacatecas are among the 50 municipalities with the most murders, according to federal government data.

The state is ranked 16th nationally for homicides that occurred from December 2018 to May 2021, in the president’s current administration Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The incidence rate of murders per 100,000 inhabitants places Zacatecas in fifth place. In the same population range shown, the entity records a figure of 111.64 per 100,000 inhabitants, higher than the national average of 61.81.
