The Ministry of Health (In) reported that until this Saturday, July 24, they recorded 2,741,983 cumulative cases of coronavirus, in addition to 238,316 deaths because of illness. However, in the last 24 hours there has been an increase in 15,823 infections and 362 deaths.

According to the daily technical release, to date they have also been estimated in the country 103,879 active cases of the disease; that is, patients who started showing symptoms within the last 14 days (July 11-24, 2021) and that if they do not comply with all sanitary measures, they could potentially contribute to the transmission of the virus.

In this sense, the states with the highest number of active cases of SARS-CoV-2 in descending order are: Mexico City, State of Mexico, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Veracruz, Sinaloa, Quintana Roo, which has more than 3,000 cases; followed by Guerrero, Tabasco, Sonora, Nayarit, Baja California Sur, Yucatán, Guanajuato, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, Hidalgo, Querétaro, Michoacán, Puebla, Colima and Coahuila, which overall concentrate the 95% such cases in the country.

Regarding hospital availability, the average occupancy of general beds in health centers is 34% and 33% for intensive care beds.

States with the highest percentage of overall bed occupancy are Durango (69%), Guerrero (67%) and Mexico (64%). In turn, those with the highest percentage of beds with fans are Nayarit (66%), Colima (59%) and Sinaloa (57%).

The position of the numbers above Mexico, fourth country in the world with the most deaths because of the coronavirus, only below the United States, Brazil and India; and it’s number 16 in number of infections, according to the latest update from Johns Hopkins University.

COVID traffic light

This Friday, the Federal Health Agency updated the COVID-19 epidemiological traffic light, which will be in effect the next July 26 to August 8.

On the contrary, in color “green”(Low risk) there will only be three states: Aguascalientes, Chiapas and Coahuila. In “Orange“(High risk) there will be 13 entities: Baja California Sur, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Veracruz, Hidalgo, Mexico, State of Mexico, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Quintana Roo. There are eight more than three weeks ago.

Vaccination

Regarding the day of the National Vaccination Strategy against SARS-CoV-2, 59,580,006 biological products have been applied since December 24, and until Friday July 23. In all, 41 539 250 people over 18 receive at least one dose, a number that represents 43%.

Of this amount, 23 602 901 people completed their two-dose schedule, which is 57%; and 17,936,349, or 43%, received the first dose.

By state, Baja California remains at 79% progress in immunizing people over 18; Baja California Sur, 74%; Mexico City, 73%; Chihuahua, 69%; Quintana Roo, 57%; Sinaloa, 55%; Yucatan, 55%; and Aguascalientes, 54%.
