Brazil has the lowest number of deaths and infections from COVID-19 in six months

Brazil has recorded 476 deaths from covid and 18,219 new infections in the past 24 hours, the lowest figures reported since January, as the pandemic begins to give a truce in the country, the government said on Sunday.

In total, the South American giant already adds 549,924 deaths and 19,688,663 confirmed cases of coronavirus, according to the latest bulletin from the Ministry of Health.

According to official data, the number of deaths recorded today is the lowest since January 18, when 452 deaths were reported from the virus, while the cases of covid-19 counted today barely exceed 17,340 infections as of January 3.

The numbers tend to be lower on weekends, however, due to the lack of staff to complete registrations and only re-consolidate on Tuesday.

Brazil is one of the countries in the world hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic, but the figures have been declining for a continuous month due to the vaccination campaign which is gradually strengthening in the country.

On the other hand, Thousands of people took to the streets in Brazil this Saturday to demand the impeachment of President Jair Bolsonaro for his management in the face of the coronavirus pandemics, the fourth demonstration, in less than two months, during which the country massively rises against the denialist leader.

In more than 400 cities across the country, The protesters also demanded to speed up the vaccination process and increase the amount of aid so that the poorest can cope with the crisis linked to the virus., which already leaves more than 14.8 million unemployed.

Called by central labor unions, left-wing parties and social movements, the demonstrations took place peacefully throughout the day and only riots were recorded in Sao Paulo.

In addition to the protests in Brazil, a dozen countries, including Germany, Spain, Canada, the United States, England, Mexico and Portugal they accompanied the marches abroad from various cities.

At the South American giant, the most massive demonstrations took place in Sao Paulo, the most populous city in the country and the hardest hit by the pandemic, in Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Belo Horizonte and also in Brasilia, where the Protests focused outside Congress headquarters, to build pressure for an impeachment against Bolsonaro.
