Opposition leaders demanded the departure of Peruvian prime minister just three days after his appointment

Various leaders of right-wing parties demanded this Sunday in Lima the dismissal of the president of the Council of Ministers of Peru, Guido Bellido, in open rejection of the Peruvian executive, during a march called “against the communist dictatorship”.

The concentration of thousands of people in the avenue of Peru responded to a call from supporters of the Popular Force parties of former presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori, of the Aprista party of former president Alan García, of Popular Action ( AP) and the Cristiano Popular Party (PPC), among others.

Former minister and activist of the Aprista party Nidia Vilchez said from a platform that Peruvian President “Pedro Castillo is hostage to Vladimir Cerrón”, the founder of the ruling Peru Libre party and who would have had the greatest influence in the appointment of the cabinet, with a marked ultra-left tendency.

“We have to go to the Government Palace to ask Castillo to withdraw Bellido”Vílchez added with reference to the prime minister, who has an ongoing investigation for apologizing for terrorism.

Bellido said on Sunday that he had no connection with the Shining Path armed gang, but the MP also paid tribute to figures of this subversive group, such as Edith Lagos, on his social networks.

“We must demand the resignation of Bellido today, it is an affront to the Peruvian people”added the former member for Aprista.

In turn, the former Aprist Prime Minister Jorge del Castillo assured that “half of this cabinet is from the Shining Path and the other half from the MRTA (Revolutionary Movement Tupac Amaru). It is the parity of this cabinet ”.

Lawyer Lourdes Flores, who advised Fujimori in contesting the votes in the recent presidential election, told protesters that “we must be together in Parliament and in the streets, in the unity of democracy” to prevent, among others, the Constituent Assembly proposed by President Pedro Castillo.

“Let’s take care of Parliament, let’s be smarter than our opponents”, added Flores, a former PPC presidential candidate in 2001 and 2006.

In turn, Fuerza Popular Congressman Hernando Guerra García claimed that “We will fight against communism until the last cartridge is burned.”

In the same vein, the former lawmaker and former minister Juan Sheput declared that “one cannot trust Guido Bellido (in Congress), the adversary is devastated from the start”.

Bellido began this Sunday a series of meetings with the banks in Congress before the presentation of the ministerial cabinet in plenary session to seek their vote of confidence.

In the event that Parliament rejects confidence in the cabinet, as some sectors are proposing, the president would only need one more vote against his executive to have the power to dissolve Congress, as the President did. former President Martín Vizcarra in 2019 during a serious political crisis.
