New York Governor Andrew Cuomo now facing criminal investigation for sexual harassment

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, faces a criminal investigation in the state capital after one of the women identified by the prosecution as his victim reported him criminally this week, as confirmed this Saturday the sheriff of the region.

The woman, whose identity remains anonymous, is one of eleven mentioned in the prosecutor’s independent investigation into allegations of sexual harassment, and the first to file a criminal complaint since the explosive report erupted this week.

The 63-year-old veteran Democrat has repeatedly denied touching a woman inappropriately.

“Yesterday, a criminal complaint was filed”, said an official with the sheriff’s office in Albany County, the state capital. Albany County Sheriff, Craig Apple, said at a press conference that The complaint from the woman, a former assistant to Cuomo, “alleges criminal conduct” and that her office’s investigation is at an early stage pending documents from the New York attorney general’s office.

Last Tuesday, after five months of investigations, Attorney General Letitia James presented a report which concludes that the Democratic governor sexually harassed eleven women, mostly workers or former workers, and among them the assistant who was the subject of criminal proceedings in the county. The investigation was civilian in nature.

The woman claims that Cuomo has behaved inappropriately with her since 2019, with kisses and hugs that made her uncomfortable, and that last November at her official residence, where she went at his request, the New York politician put his hands under her blouse and touched her chest.

The sheriff, who did not provide too many details due to the ongoing investigation, said your team will conduct a “full” investigation of the allegations and make a “decision” when they compile the necessary information, for which their investigators will have to question the victim.

Anybody one of the country’s most popular politicians for the good job he did in New York during the pandemic, which is turned away by allies and political rivals over allegations of harassment, also faces a possible impeachment process by the state legislature.
