Hezbollah issued threats against Israel: “We are not looking for war, but we are prepared for it and we will win it”

The general secretary of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, Hasan Nasrallah said on Saturday that he did not want a war with Israel but was prepared and ready to win it, amid a spike in border tension resulting from the interchange of recent attacks by the Jewish state and Lebanon.

“We are not looking for war, nor do we want it. But we are prepared for it and we will win it ”, Hezbollah chief said in a televised speech.

Nasrallah made the remarks a day after the Shiite group launched a twenty rockets from southern Lebanon to Israel, who responded with seizures for the third day in a row.

“We want to tell the enemy that any Israeli Air Force airstrike in Lebanon will inevitably elicit a response, although adequately and proportionately, because we want to fulfill the objective of protecting our country, “he added.

Hezbollah then claimed that the The rocket launch was in response to Israel’s aerial bombardment the day before, the first since the war they waged in 2006.

In this regard, Nasrallah added that the Their formation’s response to other Israeli airstrikes “can be anywhere in northern occupied Palestine, whether in the Galilee or the Golan Heights.”

Last Wednesday, three rockets were fired from Lebanon against Israeli territory, an action which has not been claimed by any group but which Israel suspects of Palestinian factions present in the south of the Arab country.

Israel retaliated with three artillery rounds and, hours later, in the early hours of last Thursday, with bombardment.

This aerial action is the first perpetrated by the Jewish state in Lebanon for 15 years, according to the Lebanese president, Michel Aoun, who considered it a “flagrant and dangerous violation” of the UN Security Council resolution which ended the 2006 war.

The conflict of 33 days in the summer of 2006 killed 1,200 people in Lebanon, mostly civilians, and 160 Israelis, mostly soldiers. It ended with a UN-backed ceasefire on August 14, 2006, which saw the Lebanese army deploy along border areas.

The United States, for its part, on Friday urged the Lebanese government to prevent Hezbollah from firing rockets at Israel.

A voltage escalation occurs when Lebanon is on the brink of collapse, hit by a severe economic crisis, with soaring inflation and a shortage of basic commodities, medicine and fuel; as the political blockade lasts, waiting for the Prime Minister designate, Najib Mikati, the third in less than a year, to form a government in the coming days.
