It could be yours: one of Prince Charles’ favorite castles sells for under two dollars

Series and films have brought Latin audiences closer to the lifestyle of European royalty. The truth is that fans of royalty are in favor because the news was known that a traditional Scottish castle, which is one of the favorites of the Prince of Wales, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, was put up for sale for a small sum of money.

The construction dates from the 19th century and it sells for no more and no less than a pound sterling, or around $ 1.4. It is kinloch castle, which is located on the Isle of Rum, off the west coast of Scotland.

These lands belong to the public entity NatureScot, responsible for Scotland’s natural heritage and it was they who decided to sell it. Many years ago in its heyday, this monarchical castle hosted big parties as seen in the Netflix series and even had a visit from King Edward VII of the United Kingdom, the father of Queen Elizabeth II and therefore the grandfather of Prince of Wales, Carlos.

It is striking that this property is being sold at such a low price because in its rooms it houses sculptures and works of art such as the last orchestra in motion of the world. It is a piece which belonged to Queen Victoria and which seeks to imitate an orchestra of 40 musicians.

But all that glitters is not gold and the castle has been abandoned for a long time. Whoever buys it will have to make costly repairs to put it into service and restore it to great splendor. Experts estimate that the reconstruction work will be around the $ 28 million.

That is why not everyone can buy it, applicants must submit proposals for the conservation of the castle. These will be evaluated by NatureScot and they must be sustainable, protect the place and help the community of the Isle of Rum.
