10-year-old boy learned he had cancer after being pulled over on the street by a stranger

A 10-year-old boy found out he had cancer because a stranger stopped him on the street and praised him for his courage. David Lally’s parents, Chris and Kelly, took him to the hospital for tests after he started to feel unwell and in pain. headache and “blinking of the right eye”.

In December, she was diagnosed with three large brain tumors and several younger ones, but his parents didn’t want to scare him by telling him so. They only told him he had “little bumps”, but after a passerby told him “you fight cancer well, mate”, they had no choice but to break the news to him.

David, who lives in Wallasey, Merseyside, England, has undergone chemotherapy and now has scars on his bald head, which his parents say he is “ashamed of”. So, in a moving manifestation of solidarity, his father Chris told him that he would get a tattoo to “make” the exact same scars.

“We fight together and I want him to know that. Whatever he has to go through, I’ll go through it with him.”

Dealing with the pain of getting a tattoo on your head was worth it. “David came with me to watch, so I made a face that didn’t hurt. The tattoo artist took about an hour,” he recalls.

“He was sitting next to me and he was laughing to death. He said “Dad, this is great. David now has to undergo six chemotherapy sessions before a study in his head shows whether the treatment worked or not.

However, Chris says a scan done in March after his son’s radiation therapy showed promising results, as only a few “lumps” of the tumor remained.

In July, the family raised $ 5,500 for the Owen McVeigh Foundation and Clatterbridge Hospital. Some of the money also went towards gifts for David’s room nurses, housekeepers and cooks.
