With nearly six thousand signatures in a few hours, the petition “Open the doors to Afghanistan and the Afghans” is circulating on the social networks of various cultural references in Spain and Latin America.

The manifesto in which they launch an urgent appeal to the international community to keep the borders of Afghanistan open and to leave the country all those who wish it, in particular the women who, by the simple fact of l ‘being, “add an intolerable cruelty and in addition to that suffered by Afghans of all conditions”.

The journalists Gabriela Canas, president of the Spanish press agency Efe; the spanish authors Soledad Gallego-Díaz, Rosa Montero Yes Torres de Maruja, the Argentines Claudia Piñeiro, Gabriela Cabezón Camera, Ariana Harwicz, Ecuadorian Maria Fernanda Ampuero and the Chilean Alejandra Costamagna, among others, sign this feminist document, written in Spanish, English and French, which had the collaboration of the association for gender equality in culture, Classic and Modern.

The manifesto consists of three points in which the international community is invited to “demand that the Taliban power keep the borders open so that all those who wish to leave Afghanistan fleeing a fanatical power imposed by force of arms can do so in a matter of minutes minimum safety conditions ”.

It also demands that “be respected the elementary duties of solidarity and human compassion by admitting in flights and convoys for the repatriation of foreigners the greatest possible number of Afghans and especially Afghans in imminent danger, whether they have been or not in the service of States or institutions that the Taliban consider as enemies ”.

The third point calls for special attention “to women at particular risk, whether for having performed professional tasks prohibited by the Taliban, attending schools and universities, leading their life outside of fanatic morality or any other. pattern”.

“The demand that the Taliban power keep the borders open to those who wish to leave Afghanistan implies a symmetrical commitment on the part of the members of the international community, and which we also strongly demand, to welcome the refugees from Afghanistan. , by collaborating in his case to alleviate the pressure that a mass exodus could impose on neighboring countries, ”adds the petition.

In recent hours, hundreds of messages and initiatives have flooded the networks in favor of Afghan women and to denounce the situation they find themselves in after the departure of foreign troops from the country and the return of the Taliban regime.
