The president of the United States, Joe Biden, told Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett this Friday at the White House that his country is ready to adopt other options if diplomacy with Iran fails.

Before the start of your bilateral meeting, Biden explained in press statements that one of the issues they would address was “the threat from Iran” and the shared commitment with Israel that the Islamic Republic “never” develops a nuclear weapon.

“Corn Let’s put diplomacy first and see where it takes us if diplomacy fails, we are ready to revert to other options, ”the US president said.

The coalition led by Bennett – like Benjamin Netanyahu’s previous government – is fiercely opposed to the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and the G5 + 1 powers, which Biden proposes to reinstate after the government of his predecessor Donald Trump (2017-2021) withdrew the United States from the pact in 2018.

Benet celebrated Biden’s comments on Friday about the possibility that there are other options if the diplomatic channel doesn’t work and that Iran “can never acquire nuclear weapons”.

In this sense, he stressed that “These days illustrate what the world could look like if a radical Islamic regime obtained nuclear weapons”, a possibility he described as a global atomic “nightmare”.

“Iran is the world’s largest exporter of terrorism, instability and human rights violations, and as we are sitting here now, the Iranians are using the centrifuges at (the nuclear power plants of) Natanz and Fordow. It must be stopped “he is crying.

Benet added that when meeting with Biden, they were going to focus on two goals: on the one hand, stop “Iran’s regional aggression and reverse its progress” and, on the other hand, prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Another of the topics covered by the two was the United States’ “unwavering commitment” to the security of Israel, as described by Biden, who expressed his full support for the restoration of the Israeli Iron Dome air defense system, after the military escalation in the Gaza Strip last May.

The US president announced that they would also study the means to progress in “peace, security for Israelis and Palestinians”.

In addition, Biden expressed his support for Israel to develop “deeper” ties with its Arab and Muslim neighbors: “This is a trend that I think should be encouraged, not discouraged, and we will do everything we can.”

Administration of Trump has promoted the normalization of relations between Israel and various Arab and Muslim countries under the so-called Abraham Accords.

However, Biden was cautious about these agreements which broke with one of the maxims of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict: the non-normalization of relations between the Arab nations and Israel until the Palestinian question is resolved.

During the meeting they took this Friday, another of the topics they discussed was the pandemic and immunization programs of the two countries.

Regarding vaccination, one of the points they talked about was the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, which Israel started applying earlier to certain age groups and which the United States has said it wants to start giving to all adults over 18 from September 20.

The meeting between Biden and Bennett at the White House, of which he is the The Israeli’s first official trip since taking office was scheduled for Thursday, but it was postponed by the bombing of Kabul airport, where more than 100 people were killed, including 13 American soldiers.
