Argentina to host Latin American Climate Change Summit | It will take place on September 8 at 10

Argentina will host the Latin American Summit on Climate Change. The event, born from a meeting between the president Alberto Fernandez and Joe Biden’s special envoy for environmental issues, John Kerry, will take place on September 8, two months before the United Nations’ conference on this issue in Glasgow.

The summit, entitled “High-level Dialogue on Climate Action in the Americas”, will be held from 10 (local time) and will be divided into three segments. According to official sources, co-organize the event Barbados, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama and the Dominican Republic.

At the top, in addition to Fernández, will be present the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Love Mottley; the President of Colombia, Ivan Duque Marquez; the President of Costa Rica, Carlos Allvarez Quesada; and the President of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo.

The President of the Dominican Republic will also be present, Luis Abinader; the Chilean Minister of the Environment and President of COP 25, Caroline schmidt; United States Special Envoy for Climate, John Kerry; and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.

The event is the product of the meeting between President Alberto Fernández and John Kerry, Biden’s special envoy for climate change, who agreed on the need to organize this meeting at the American level.
