Seven members of the Gulf Clan were killed by the army in Ituango

On September 12, a group of soldiers killed seven members of the Gulf Clan and they captured two more in Ituango, Antioquia. According to the authorities, the clashes took place in the village of El Socorro, near the municipal seat of Ituango, where the seventh division of the army operates.

Regarding the operation, General Juvénal Díaz, commander of the seventh division of the army, He said there was heavy fighting with the del Golfo clan in Ituango, after communities in the area noticed the fighting.

For his part, Mauricio Mira, Mayor of Ituango said that the army helped restore peace to rural communities.

The army, in combat with the Gulf Clan, killed seven militants of this illegal armed group and two were captured. It is worth highlighting the work that the Army has done for the benefit of our country and our municipality.

For the moment, the soldiers have not been able to move the corpses and those captured from the area, due to the difficult access to the village of El Socorro. Next Monday, September 13, Defense Minister Diego Molano from Bogotá will deliver the details of the operation.

Likewise, as part of this operation, a meeting fight took place in the village of Puerto Valencia, municipality of El Retorno, Guaviare which led to the capture of two subjects and the seizure of 5.56 rifles. mm, a 9mm caliber pistol, suppliers for ammunition, a rifle scope, more than 1,500 cartridges of various calibers, a rifle scope, an AVN that would serve as a night vision lens and neighborhood equipment -master.

After a search of the area, it was established that an illegal training center was operating there, under the command of aliases “Bryan” and aliases “Katherine”. Medical training materials, communications, a large amount of weapons and documentation were recovered for military intelligence analysis.

According to intelligence, the intention of the structure is to carry out terrorist actions towards the urban area of ​​the municipality of San José del Guaviare and to enter weapons, which represents a severe blow to the logistics of the residual organized armed group.
