Five soldiers killed after armed attack in Cordoba

The Seventh Division command said they were soldiers from the 23rd Land Operations Battalion of Joint Task Force Achilles.

“It is with deep pain that I report that at noon today coward terrorists from the Gulf clan attacked several of our soldiers with explosives in Puerto Libertador – Córdoba. Five of them were despicably murdered and three others were wounded, ”Brigadier General Juvenal Díaz Mateus, commander of the Seventh Division, said via his Twitter account.

According to information provided by the National Army, the military carried out a motorized movement when they were attacked with explosive devices by suspected members of the GAO Clan del Golfo.

The Seventh Division reported that in this instance, in addition to the five soldiers killed, three others were wounded. The wounded soldiers are transferred by plane to a medical center located in Montería, the capital of Cordoba.

“We will report to the competent authorities this flagrant violation of human rights, and violation of the norms that govern international humanitarian law, ”the national army said in a statement.

Likewise, the command sent a message of condolence to the families and friends of the slain soldiers and wished the speedy recovery of the personnel injured in the midst of the criminal action.

For his part, Brigadier General Juvénal Díaz told the families of the soldiers killed on Tuesday that the national army would not let the crime go unpunished.

Among the soldiers, the most experienced was Campo Flórez, who had a total of 10 years of service in the military institution to his credit. He was from Guamal, Tolima, He was also married.
