An unsuccessful light show ended with a drone rain in Zhengzhou City, China last Friday, as part of a party in a shopping center. As a result, several of the small devices fell and struck buildings and vehicles. The video immediately went viral on social media.

In the footage, around 200 illuminated drones are seen at high altitude and how they go out and start to fall hitting buildings and vehicles and crash to the ground, as spectators scream in fear and walk away.

According to local media, the drones were supposed to be part of a show in front of the mall, but due to an “operational error” it ended in an accident.

For his part, a witness spoke with the local station Henan TV, and said about 5,000 people, many of them children, were watching the show when the event occurred, and people fled with their hands over their heads. Fortunately there were no injuries.

Another drone accident

However, this is not the first time that a similar incident has occurred in China: in May of this year, 17 drones collided during celebrations in the southwestern city of Chengdu.

On this occasion, subsequent police investigations revealed that a rival company that was not chosen for the event was the one that caused the incident using jammers.
