With a party, a woman awaits her death by euthanasia – News

Martha Sepúlveda is 51 years old, three years ago she was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and with celebration she awaits her death next Sunday.

The woman is from Colombia and will accept euthanasia after the Constitutional Court of that country extended, last July, access to this method to patients with non-terminal illnesses.

The Court allows access to this right to persons who suffer “from severe physical or mental suffering, resulting from bodily harm or from a serious and incurable illness”.

Sepúlveda requested euthanasia on July 27, just four days after the Constitutional Court’s ruling. On August 6, he celebrated the acceptance and the date for his death proceedings was set for October 10 at 7:30 a.m. in Colombia.
