The wave of coronavirus deaths in Russia is amplifying: it sets a new daily record

Russia added 936 deaths from COVID-19 in past 24 hours, third day in a row surpassing 900 deathslocal authorities reported on Friday.

The previous maximum of deaths was recorded on Wednesday, when they died 929 people.

On the last day in Russia, they confirmed 27,246 cases in 85 regions, including 2,346 asymptomatic (8.6%), according to official statistics.

These data continue the upward trend in infections in Russia, where over 97% of positives are due to the delta variant of the coronavirus.

The highest number of new positives was recorded in Moscow, the epicenter of the pandemic in Russia, where 4,595 cases, followed by St. Petersburg, with 2,501 positives.

On the other hand, 6,819,796 people recovered from COVID-19, including 20,566 exits on the last day, while 1,409,109 remain under observation as possible cases of coronavirus, a figure that has been rising in recent weeks, according to data from the National Office for Consumer Protection (Rospotrebnadzor).

In total, since the start of the pandemic, they have died in Russia 214,485 people, although official statistics on excessive deaths during the same period triple that figure.

Russia, with 7,717,356 cases, it’s him fifth country in the world by the number of contaminations confirmed, behind the United States, India, Brazil and the United Kingdom.

Today more than 49 million citizens were vaccinated with the first dose (33.7% of the population) and 44.8 million received the full regimen (30.7% of the population).
