The Central Bank's board of directors has appointed Mauro Alessandro as Deputy Director General of Economic Research, according to the official monetary authorities.
Alessandro – BA in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires and PhD in Economics from the Mbadachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – was the winner of an internal and external public competition organized by the organization.
The economist was the main person responsible for the Central Bank's monetary policy strategy and communication since January 2017; he had headed the monetary policy report and participated in the drafting of the monetary policy communiqués.
He has also been an acting member of the Monetary Policy Committee since August 2018.
He joined the Central Bank in July 2010, where he was previously responsible for managing economic research and risk badysis.
He is currently a master professor of finance at Torcuato Di Tella University, explained the monetary authority in a statement.
The Central Bank explained that the functions of the General Directorate of Economic Research were to advise the President and the Board in the badysis and implementation of monetary policy.
Similarly The Deputy Director participates in the work of the Monetary Policy Committee and prepares guidelines for monitoring national and international economic conditions., the communication of monetary policy, the production and dissemination of statistics and the development of economic models for the badysis of the country's economy.
