Argentine trains announced on Tuesday the new train fares for Mar del Plata and a new frequency.
In a statement, the company announced that since December 7
in the usual service with intermediate stops between Constitución and Mar del Plata, a direct route is added during the summer season with a journey time of 5 hours 30 minutes
The values of the new rates are 660 pesos in First and 795 pesos in Pullman, which, compared to the old rates (First: 510 and Pullman: 615), represents an increase of nearly 29%.
However, by resolution 1041/2018 published on Tuesday in the Official Journal and signed by the Minister of Transport, Guillermo Dietrich, a fee was set at 475 pesos pbading from Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata, which represents an increase in the number of 39.71% compared to the previous rate, which was 340 pesos. The difference is that Trenes Argentinos has the possibility to vary the reference rate published in the Official Journal by 50% (higher or lower).

According to the resolution, the State Opera Ferroviaria (Sofse) issued a report detailing "current pbadenger rail fares in the corridor are in the order of 62% of the automobile reference rate, in equivalent category and that the maximum rate of the railway is of the order of 56% of the maximum rate of application of the pbadenger car, whereas at the time of the last update of the rates (December 2016), this ratio was 87% "
The executive added that "the pbadenger rail service has, thanks to investments in the sector, reduced travel times allowing it to compete with the group, which has contributed to improving the quality of the experience. trips related to comparative advantages of the mode, such as the use of the dining car, large bathrooms, the possibility of internal circulation, a better panoramic visual impact, among others ".

For the Government, the tariff proposed by Sofse "is compatible with the provision of services, in accordance with the general principle of provide a social tariff within the reach of all social sectors, in addition to the need to provide a quality service, in a safe and competitive way, taking into account the existing commercial speed according to the infrastructure renewal plans being executed ".
The incorporation of the new frequency will leave Plaza Constitución at 6:22 to return from Mar del Plata at 1:14 pm every day of the week.
The usual service includes 12 intermediate stops (in Brandsen, Chascomús, Lezama, Castelli, Sevigné, Dolores, General Guido, Maipú, Las Armas, Pirán, Vidal and Vivoratá) and leaves Plaza Constitución from Monday to Saturday. 15:29 and Sunday at 15:20, and returns from Mar del Plata every day at 1:01.
