The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Maria Eugenia Vidal, announced Tuesday that the bonus of $ 7,000 who decided to grant them to provincial state workers will also give it to teachers in Buenos Aires, despite the fact that their government has failed to reach a joint agreement after several meetings and offers.
Vidal has managed to reach an agreement with the state providing for a salary increase in December 2% and thus accumulate an annual increase of 32%. In addition, he guaranteed the bonus for the month of December and accepted a joint agreement 20% for 2019 with cases of readjustment based on inflation.
"I regret that this agreement, which has been accepted by more than half of the provincial government workers, was rejected by the teachers' unions after 20 meetings during the year and eleven different proposals", said the governor at a conference. press together with the ministers who participated in the negotiation.
Vidal warned that they would keep talking until December and that not having an agreement with the teachers would not prevent them from giving them the bonus. "We will not make sure that teachers' disagreement excludes teachers from increases perceived by the rest of the workers"he maintained.
"It could have been a way to sign a decree with the closing of the parity, but we did not choose this path, we chose to continue the dialogue, with the same firmness and commitment," said the representative of Buenos Aires, referring to the impossibility of reaching an agreement with the professors.
"I decided that all teachers would receive a bonus of 7,000 pesos. This agreement is not a coincidence. We have been serious and responsible during the year. We never compromised what we could not afford, "he said.
Finally, the governor thanked the union leaders who represent the state workers because "they reached an agreement beyond the difficulties and the maintenance of the differences".
