The government is enforcing a law pbaded in December by Parliament, which approves the sale of medical cannabis abroad.

"The State of Israel is one of the world's leading countries in the field of medical cannabis (…) .Our knowledge and experience in this field allow us to offer high quality products for export. ", said the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Moshe Bar Siman Tov.

In 2016, the Israeli government approved this bill for the legalization of exports.

In December, a law was pbaded allowing farmers to cultivate cannabis for therapeutic purposes, provided that they obtain a permit from the Ministry of Health, the police and the producer control authority.

The export of cannabis for medical purposes could generate an income of one billion sequelae (about 234 million euros, or 266 million dollars) per year in Israel, according to the estimates of the Parliament.

Eight companies are currently cultivating cannabis for therapeutic purposes in Israel, but many others are waiting for official permission to do so.

The use of cannabis for recreational purposes is banned in Israel, but a bill partially outlining consumption in 2017 has been pbaded, in favor of a system of fines.
