The acting president of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, confirmed Monday that he had discussed with US President Donald Trump, on the crisis of the oil country, which enjoys the strong support of Washington.
"Yes, we spoke with the President (Trump), as well as with other presidents of the region and the world", said Guaidó, head of the parliament of the majority of the opposition, during an interview with the network CNN in Spanish.

Several Latin American governments validated Guaidó's self-proclamation and the claim that Maduro was re-elected in a fraudulent election in May 2018; he should not take office on 10 January.
Maduro denounces this swearing as a "coup d'etat" led by the White House, which he accuses of trying to resolve the Venezuelan political conflict by military means.
