Another Mexican pipeline exploded as a result of fuel theft | Chronic

Mexican authorities have confirmed the new explosion of a pipeline containing gasoline in the Mexican state of Hidalgo. This case adds to the hundreds of gas thefts recorded in recent days.

The explosion took place on January 28 in the community of El Durazno, in the municipality of San Agustín Tlaxiaca of Hidalgo, at 21:00. Clandestine fuel consumption is commonly known as "huachicoleo".

The fire was controlled about half an hour later, the Department of National Defense reported. While the governor of Hidalgo, Omar Fayad, reported that a car had been consumed by the flames but that the nearby population was not in danger.

In addition, no fatal casualties have yet been reported in this recent case, unlike January 18, when the explosion of another pipeline Pemex (Petróleos Mexicanos) in Hidalgo ended. 115 people dead.

The Mexican government recorded 1,684 illegal takeovers in the country between January 7 and 27. Of these, 1,022 were not located by the authorities.
