The journalist Rodrigo Pérez and cameraman Gonzalo Barahona were arrested by police with two Venezuelan reporters, Maiker Yriarte and Ana Rodríguez.

According to the Venezuelan National Press Workers' Union (SNTP), the arrest took place around 22 local hours (23 in Argentina) around the Miraflores Palace, the seat of the government of that country.




Today, around 1 am, Marco Ruiz, Secretary General of SNTP, confirmed the detention of professionals on the 24-hour channel. He also said that this happened when they were in a concentration of members of Nicolás Maduro, near the government palace, where they were intercepted by security agents. presidential.

For the moment, it is not known what charges they are in custody. The union leader acknowledged that, although the police inspection took place as a "routine procedure", "for more than two hours, it is absolutely unjustified and irregular".

The Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to define the reasons for this arrest.
