The text also calls on the head of European diplomacy, Federica Mogheriniand EU Member States to recognize Guaidó "Until new free, transparent and credible presidential elections can be convened to restore democracy."

The resolution condemns violence and repression in the country and rejects "any proposal or attempt that may involve the use of violence to resolve the crisis".

He also repeats that the opposition National Assembly is "the only legitimate democratic organization in Venezuela" and stresses that its powers "must be restored and respected", including "the security of its members".

The Spanish Socialist MEP Ramón Jáuregui He insisted, for his part, on the fact that Europe "had established a reasonable criterion" by giving the Venezuelan leader, Nicolás Maduro, a deadline to call elections.

Jáuregui defended that the EU had given priority to the possibility of an agreement between the government and the opposition authorizing the holding of elections with guarantees, with a deadline, and has recalled that Maduro had warned that he would recognize Guaidó if he did not comply with it. term.
