The Minister of the Interior, Public Works and Housing of the country, Rogelio Frigerio, went to the Yacyretá hydropower plant with the director of the binational entity (EBY), Martín Goerling, and announced the opening in the coming months of the border between Ituzaingó and Ayolas. (Paraguay)
"We are determined to carry out work that promotes greater integration of our peoples, as part of a cooperative program that will benefit both countries," said Mr. Goerling.
In the afternoon, the Minister and the Director of EBY visited the work to increase the capacity of migration control operations in the area of the border crossing between the cities of Posadas and Encarnación, Argentina and Paraguay, respectively. The minister confirmed that at the end of April, 14 new control zones will be activated from Posadas.
While the Ministry of the Interior of the Nation was responsible for the construction of the buildings, the EBY carried out the work of the rain and sewer pipes as well as electrical installations and currents in the area. In this sense, the work consisted of:
- Movement of soils, sewers, drains.
- Construction of works for future drinking water, sewage, stormwater, energy and fiber optic installations.
- The perimeter fence and the metal door that surrounds the Border Security Zone.
- Asphalt pavement in exit range and corresponding link to the south access of Posadas.
"These works represent a substantial contribution to the future border center, both in terms of infrastructure and security," added EBY's Executive Director.
In Reversal No. 9 of 2 July 1981, the Argentine Republic agreed with Paraguay to approve the financing by the binational entity of Yacyretá of the Encarnación-Posadas Bridge and access roads on both sides of the river. .
In May 2008, the Argentine government took out a loan from the Andean Development Corporation (CAF) to finance road works for integration with Paraguay. As part of this plan, the extension of Highway 105 to the International Bridge, called the South Access to the City of Posadas, ending at Miter Avenue, is a natural access to the Border Center. But international traffic between this city and Encarnación collapsed the facilities, for which the Ministry of the Interior agreed with EBY to finance the remodeling of the international laissez-pbader.
