The Secretary General of Organization of American States (OAS) Luis Almagro, criticized Friday the position taken by the UN experts before the sanctions imposed on politicians and officials Chavez by the United States.
"The General Secretariat disagrees with the position of UN experts who have spoken out against sanctions against perpetrators of human rights violations and corruption, while they remain silent before the mbadive crisis generated by the regime, "said Almagro in a video posted on his Twitter account.
According to the Secretary General of the OAS, those who reject the actions against the Venezuelan dictator and his allies are those who generally relativize the humanitarian crisis in the Caribbean country.
"It is curious that officials who claim to be defenders of international law deny that the humanitarian tragedy that is going on in Venezuela is the result of an inept and corrupt madurism policy and enters the game of the usurping dictator. It is a serious mistake if a manager seeks to validate an illegitimate government"he said.
Almagro recalled that Nicolás Maduro's regime was guilty of one of the largest diasporas in recent history.
"The madurist dictatorship is the only cause of hunger, disease, lack of respect for human rights and the death of the Venezuelan people." It predates the application of sanctions designed to defuse systems of corruption, dictatorship. No official can condemn this type of sanctions"he said.
"The General Secretariat remains firmly committed to the process of restoring democracy in Venezuela. Therefore, it supports any action that, in the framework of the rule of law and inter-American law, accelerates the democratization of the country. This represents for the Venezuelan people a fundamental opportunity to recover their rights and well-being, "he concluded.
