Senators who traveled the most abroad

Lucila Crexell and Ángel Rozas were the senators who spent most of their days abroad last year. With six trips each, the legislators of the Neuquén People's Movement and the DUC, respectively, top the list of travelers who traveled the most in 2018 on official missions, invited by different agencies. This is indicated by the report published by the specialized portal Parliamentary.

Of the three in Mendoza, Julio Cobos, Pamela Verasay and Anabel Fernández Sagasti, the former governor appears with two trips abroad, ranking 15th among the resources used for these efforts. The cristinista leader of Mendoza, in as much, appears with only one trip and enters last of the list. There is no trace of Verasay.

According to the parliamentarian, the upper house spent a total of 27,660 euros and 49,350 dollars in travel expenses. According to the regulations in force, senators must have the approval of the president of their bloc to be able to travel and are required to report on the activities they have carried out while traveling, although this information is not published. .

Crexell – which received a total of $ 3,700 and € 4,560 – spent 72 days abroad. It pbaded through Britain and Northern Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Iceland, Mexico, France and Switzerland. In the case of Mexico, for example, it was like a veedora for the elections won by President Andrés López Obrador.

In a statement, the senator explained that she had been summoned to various events as secretary of the Commission on External Relations; as a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU); and as the Senate Representative to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

He also stated that, as a participant in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), he was a member of the High Level Advisory Group on Terrorism and Violent Extremism, where he had been appointed by the group to which belongs Argentina, the GRULAC. He also said that he was chairing the parliamentary friendship group with the UK, which requires participation in certain events.

For its part, Rozas spent 56 days between his travels to Panama and Austria via the Eurolat; in Switzerland by the Assembly of the IPU; in Morocco for an "International Parliamentary Conference on Migration"; and the United States for a high-level political forum of the United Nations. These trips required a total of $ 3,880, plus $ 3,360.

Senate interim president Federico Pinedo made seven trips for international engagements – one more than Crexell and Rozas – but spent only 33 days out. The macrista has been made three times in Switzerland, twice in the United States, Costa Rica and France. His travels required a total of $ 3,300 and $ 5,160 in travel expenses paid by the Senate.

Rodolfo Urtubey, from the Justicialista block, also added miles. He traveled five times abroad and received 900 dollars and 4,260 euros. The destinations of Salta were three times more numerous than Switzerland, as a member of the IPU; United States, by the United Nations Decolonization Committee; and Russia, for an international conference on the role of parliaments.

Esteban Bullrich of Buenos Aires and Juan Carlos Romero of Salta each made four international trips, while Juvia Silvia Giacoppo, Fueguino Jose "Nato" Ojeda and Santiago Ada Iturrez traveled three times each.
