The "battle" of low cost: Jetsmart and Flybondi offer cheap flights to Argentina for only $ 1

A few hours after Flybondi went on sale for a peso, the Chilean airline Jetsmart, which has just landed in Argentina, doubled the bet and followed a similar strategy. The "low cost" dispute began months ago, but over the past few weeks it has become much more marked after Jetsmart has closed down the last details allowing it to work in the country. When it was confirmed that she was already able to fly – something that will happen from April 10 -, the Chilean airline and Flybondi set off a "battle" to see who takes over local air market.

"We started selling Jetsmart flights and decided to do so with a historic offer, with flights of one peso, including taxes," acknowledged Víctor Mejía, Jetsmart's commercial director in the region. The strategy pursued by the two companies is nothing more than the replica of what the European low-cost countries, such as Easyjet and Ryanair, among others, usually do. These airlines, as an alternative to advertising, are placing some of their flights with unusual values ​​for years, less than one euroless than 50 pesos.

"We are aware that a group in Argentina did not have the opportunity to board a plane, we are trying to awaken in people the dream and the illusion of flying," said Mejía, who also indirectly referred to Flybondi, his closest competitor: "Jetsmart's proposal is to steal with new planes, in time and for little money ".

According to reports from the Chilean airline, once the five thousand sections of one peso ended, another offer will allow you to buy flights. for less than 150 pesos with a special code. Jetsmart will start operating with 12 cabotage routes (including Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Cordoba, Neuquén, San Carlos Bariloche, Salta, Iguazú and Tucumán) and international (Santiago de Chile).
