The plenary of the Brazilian Senate approved by majority to resume the discussion on a project totally prohibiting abortion, even in cases of raped women.

Senator Eduardo Girao, from the Podemos party (which supports President Jair Bolsonaro), was the driving force behind this initiative.

Thanks to this project, the "interferences" of the Federal Supreme Court which authorized in 2012 the suspension of the pregnancy of the fetuses anancéfalos will come to an end.

As explained in an article of the agency ANSAThe vote on Tuesday night authorized the Senate to return to a draft amendment to the abortion constitution suspended in 2015, drafted by former Senator and Evangelical pastor Magno Malta.

In the office of Magno Malta, the current Minister of Women, Family and Human Rights, Damares Alves, worked as a consultant until the end of 2018. Alves also pastoral defend the creation of a "scholarship" for raped women who decide not to interrupt their pregnancy.
