The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagrohe asked on Tuesday international support to the president in charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidóbecause he supposes "the opportunity of a peaceful solution"in this country.
"The more we strengthen the power of the president, the greater the chances of returning the rights to the Venezuelan people.", said Almagro during an intervention at the biennial congress of the World Association of Lawyers, celebrated in Madrid.
Almagro denounced the dismantle the rule of law "little by little" by the Bolivarian government of this country, he asked to control these processes "from the beginning" in America.
"The (Nicolás) Maduro regime is a maximum example of ridicule with regard to the rule of law"Almagro added, referring to the Venezuelan government.
The OAS leader added that the deterioration of democratic institutions in Venezuela and Nicaragua is so profound that it is "impossible" to reverse it without a political crisis.
Almagro acknowledged that for a while in America, the necessary attention had not been paid to this process of democratic deterioration. He therefore found it necessary to ask "If our societies have the capacity to react"attempts to dismantle brakes and balance power.
For his part, the former Spanish Prime Minister Felipe Gonzalez, who also participated in the forum, called for "clear support" from the international community in Guaidó.
The Spanish socialist politician said that from the outside "we must try to tighten up the Maduro exit as much as possible", which he described as "wimp", supported by bayonets.
