Bolivian leader Nicolás Maduro yesterday urged the president of parliament, Juan Guaidó, recognized by more than 50 countries, to call a presidential election because he is sure he can win it and put an end to the conflict over the executive power. Maduro also called Guaidó a "clown" and claimed to defeat him "with the voices of the people".
"Let the clown sir (señor) call for elections if he holds them, to roll himself down with votes, as appropriate," said Chavez's first president at an event in Caracas . Guaidó has not yet testified to this request and is waiting to know what the consequences will be.
The Speaker of the Parliament had proclaimed himself interim president last January when he felt that Maduro was usurping the Venezuelan government. Guaidó baderts that "he was re-elected in elections characterized as fraudulent, among other reasons, because his main contenders were prevented from participating."
Maduro's message was consistent with the interim decision to reform the electoral system in order to convene, as soon as possible, new presidential elections for usurpation. For this, Guaidó has received the approval of most European Union countries and the United States, which support his itinerary which includes a transitional government and free elections.
